Who We Are.  We are a growing kindergarten through eighth grade Christian school that strives to bring excellence to your child's education. A full middle school was completed in the 2016-17 school year. We are fully accredited through Association of Christian Schools International with fully degreed, certified, and experienced teachers who continually build upon their skills through regular professional development. Each classroom teacher has a bachelor's or master's degree in his/her teaching area. We are a family of staff, parents, and students who love and care for one another through regular communication, hospitality, and service to others. We are a school in which your child can thrive as we work together with Christ as our leader.

A Strong Foundation of Nurturing and Educating. First United Methodist School, in partnership with home and church, prepares students to face the increasing challenges of the 21st century. It is our utmost goal to be a greenhouse for your child. A tender, vulnerable seed is often placed within a greenhouse to establish a strong root system and a sturdy stem before it is placed in the outdoors amidst the varying elements. We take your children from preschool through seventh grade and give them a solid root system based upon a firm foundation as we educate the whole child: spiritually, academically, physically, and socially. We partner with you to provide this safe, nurturing environment.

Our Reputation - The Time-Tested Results. When students leave FUMS, they are ready to face the many challenges of life. Both public and private schools throughout our area are thrilled to receive our FUMS graduates because they are so well prepared in academics, work ethics, and Christian character! On average, our students test 14 months over the national average in standardized testing! A majority of our students continue outstanding academic careers, many of whom graduate in the top 10% of their graduating classes. Over 75% of our graduates continue some type of higher education. Currently, we have alumni who are veterinarians, geneticists, educators, journalists, lawyers, city managers, medical professionals, and various other business professional positions. We currently having six alumni in law school and others in medical school.

Your Child's Safety - A Priority at FUMS! First United Methodist School & Child Care Center has a formalized Crisis Response Manual in place. The safety of our students is always at the forefront of concern for our staff. Throughout the school year, we practice various types of emergency drills, and in the event of a true emergency, we will utilize various means of contacting parents, such as email, Facebook, phone or text messages. We have a closed campus in which only authorized personnel, parents, and their designees are able to enter.
